Most of parenting is unsuccessfully attempting to sit down.

Parenting is the ultimate challenge! The variables are always changing -something that worked for you one time may not work the next; something that works for one parent may not work for you; something that meets the needs of one kid does not necessarily meet those of another. Yet it feels like we are under so much pressure as parents to get it right!

There is no right way to parent!

Parenting is a fluid process, requiring continual adjustments and course corrections. So it can be frustrating to devote limited time and money to studying one particular parenting technique or book. What happens if these techniques don’t work for you and your child? Does that mean you aren’t doing it right? That something is wrong with you? Wrong your child? Yikes!

What if, instead of joining another course or buying another parenting book (that makes you feel as if you failed years ago), you enlisted the support of a seasoned Parent Guide who has tried it ALL? What if you could meet other parents experiencing similar challenges (No, it’s not just you!!)? What if you could count on this support weekly, looking forward to YOUR time?

Parent Circles

Parent Circles are small, facilitated discussion and support groups, meeting weekly for an hour and a half. These are safe, nurturing, and supportive environments in which parents can share their struggles and gain new perspectives, guidance, and insight. We offer circles for those parenting children nine and under, and for parents of tweens and teens.

These aren’t just support groups, however. Discussion for each meeting is based on a unique parenting-related prompt reflecting various parenting theories. Throughout the discussion, focus is on developing insight and knowledge, in addition to receiving support amongst group members. This simple approach allows exposure to a variety of philosophies and perspectives, authors and experts.

The circles provide a safe place to explore our own stories as parents and to examine how these stories inform our parenting.  Conscious examination of the emotions, history, and stories we bring to our roles as parents is key to successful parenting. Private sessions are also available to provide specific or in depth guidance for those needing intensive or immediate assistance. Private Sessions are 1.5 hours long and can take place in your home or at my office.
