“If you’ve never said ‘I love you too’ in a way that sounds a tad bit angry, then you must not have kids you are trying to put to bed.”
Parenting can be exhausting!
Getting into a power struggle with a toddler - or a teenager for that matter - can leave us with feelings of frustration, resentment, inadequacy, guilt, or shame. And Fatigue! When bogged down in power struggles and life in Survival Mode, no one - adult or child - can be their Best Self.
Our mission at KinderPower is to help parents - and others who work with kids - to transform power struggles with children into empowering, problem-solving partnerships. The approach guides adults - using their own perfectly imperfect experiences - to build authentic connection with the child; this is when the power struggles fade and work can begin on developing collaborative, problem-solving skills.
Sounds simple, right? But if it were simple, bedtime or homework battles wouldn’t consume hours (and our last bit of energy) at day’s end! The idea is simple - when children feel respected, connected, and empowered, energy frees up, allowing problem-solving, rather than pushback to become the priority. But what does this look like, and how do we get there? That's where KinderPower comes in!
KinderPower is a unique framework combining the long-haul, seasoned experience of a Parent Guide with in-the-trenches camaraderie among a community of parents. We provide support, guidance and insight to help you transform child-adult power struggles into problem-solving partnerships.
Meet Founder, Christine Talley
As mom to two amazing teen/tween boys, I reached a point in my parenting experience where I looked back and thought: “If only I had known then what I know now!” I wanted a do-over! Instead, I realized I could save other parents much of the time, energy and money I spent over years of struggles, specialists, classes, books, and research.
KinderPower is the framework I created for sharing all of the parenting wisdom I’ve learned from 15 years of experience with multiple approaches, bringing everything together into ONE fluid and flexible, no-shame-allowed approach!
I teach adults how to transform power struggles with kids into problem-solving partnerships.
-Christine Talley
My expertise is rooted in 15 years as a parent of two kids who have consistently been applauded for their maturity, manners, social skills, and strength of character. They are not perfect, but they are Awesome. Together, we’ve navigated ADHD, learning differences, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, sexuality, bullying, and sexual abuse.
Sound extraordinary? It’s not – we are a low-drama family juggling whatever the Universe throws at us. It took many years, numerous financial investments, and a lot of mistakes to learn what I now know. I’m happy to say, my relationships with my boys are stronger for each of these experiences, despite the things I wish I had done differently.
Through the good fortune of being able to stay home, I have had the time and energy to put everything I have into raising them and addressing challenges. I hope by sharing my experience, I can help other parents by saving them time, energy, and resources, while also providing support, compassion, and connection.
